שֵּׁיבָבָא, שִׁיבְ׳, שֵׁבְ׳(cmp. סבב) neighbor. Targ. Ex. 12:4 (Y. ed. Vien. שיכ׳, corr. acc.).Pl. שִׁיבְבִין, שִׁיבְבֵי. Targ. Y. Deut. 24:17 (not שיבבון). Targ. 2 Kings 4:3 (ed. Wil. שְׁבֵבַ׳, some ed. שכיניכי); a. e.B. Bath.29a ש׳ מידע ידעיוכ׳ Ms. M. (ed. ידיע, corr. acc.) neighbors surely know (if people use a house) by day and by night. Snh.96b עמון ומואב ש׳ בישיוכ׳ Ammon and Moab were bad neighbors of Jerusalem. Sabb.109b ולישלקיה … בי ש׳ let him boil it in beer at the house of one of the neighbors; Ms. M. בשיכרא דש׳ in beer belonging to neighbors; (oth. opin. in Rashi: בי ש׳ at the gleam of sunset, v. שְׁבִיבָא; Var. in Ar. בי שכיבי in the cemetery).Fem. שֵׁיבַבְתָּא שְׁבַ׳.
